Tim Crouch as a...
Flutist & Performer
Timothy Crouch is an exciting, up-and-coming flutist based in Toronto, Ontario. Across Southern Ontario he is in demand as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, as well as a sought after studio musician for film recordings. Notably, in 2010 Mr. Crouch was awarded with the top prize in the first annual Canadian Flute Association Competition. Mr. Crouch also specializes in New Music, and in 2011 performed as Principal Flute for Four Forty by R. Murray Schafer with the Cecilia String Quartet, and performed works by Iannis Xenakis with pianist Adam Sherkin at the Alliance Francaise. He has performed in orchestras under Maestros Peter Oundjian, Julian Kuerti, Johannes Debus and Uri Mayer.
In Summer and Fall of 2011 Mr. Crouch performed at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Summer Concert Series, Blythwood Baptist Church and Sunnybrook Hospital, each on several occasions. He has also performed in concerts with the Blythwood Winds for the Lindsay Concert Foundation and with Sneak Peek Orchestra. The 2011 winter season will see him perform at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, solo concerts in Ottawa and Lindsay with his brother Peter, and with Orchestra Toronto, where he was recently awarded Second Flute position. He will also be performing with the Greater Toronto Philharmonic and North York Concert Orchestra.
Mr. Crouch is also an active performer outside of Toronto. He is no stranger to the historic Academy Theatre in Lindsay, Ontario where he has performed on-stage multiple times. He was a special guest artist for the Lindsay Concert Foundation’s annual gala, and performed as a guest artist with the Kawartha Male Chorus. He has also performed for the Bobcaygeon Music Council several times as their top bursary winner from 2007-2010.
In Toronto, Timothy has been heavily involved with burgeoning student-led ensembles. Most notable is the Sneak Peek Orchestra, for which he is currently Principal Flute, and Director of Marketing and Development. The group has grown exponentially in scope in a few short years, featuring works by Toronto composers. Another group where Mr. Crouch is regular performer and Director of Marketing and Development is the Toy Piano Composers, a group of Toronto composers that have works premiered throughout the city. Timothy is also a founding member of the Blythwood Winds, which premiered last year at Blythwood Baptist Church and at the AGO.
Mr. Crouch is a native of Fenelon Falls, ON, where he enjoys spending time at home sailing, kayaking and swimming. He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Ontario, his Master of Music from the University of Toronto, and has his Artist Diploma and ARCT from The Royal Conservatory, where he took lessons from Leslie Newman.
