This Friday, I’ll be travelling to Creemore Ontario with clarinetist Anthony Thompson and my brother Peter Crouch (who’s coming all the way from Ottawa!).
We’ll be performing at the local public school in the afternoon, teaching the students about our instruments (and playing some fun solos!), as well as then taking students of the band aside to work on a piece with them.
That night will be a family affair (with Anthony joining in of course) as my mother Lynne Davis comes up to accompany us, as we perform a Pay-What-You-Can concert at St. Lukes Anglican Church (22 Caroline Street). We’ll be performing solos, duos and trios, with a wide range of composers including many by my talented brother.
These concerts in rural Ontario are fantastic ways to reach wider audiences that otherwise do not have the opportunity to come into Toronto. From what I hear, the audience in Creemore is very savvy, so I’m practicing like mad!
